Nothing you type leaves your browser
whatsmygeneration.com is a static website. When you enter a birth year, or a full birth date, the calculation happens in JavaScript on your device. There is no server that receives it, no database, no account, and no way for the site’s owner to see what anyone typed.
What is collected
- Anonymous usage counts. The site may use a cookieless analytics service (Plausible or umami) that counts page views and three anonymous events: a calculation was performed, a card was shared, a card was downloaded. These events carry the resulting generation name (for example “millennials”), never the year or date you typed. The service does not use cookies, does not fingerprint, and does not track you across other sites.
- Standard server logs. The hosting provider (Cloudflare or Vercel) keeps ordinary request logs for security and operations, as every website host does.
What is not collected
- No cookies are set by this site, so there is no consent banner to click.
- No birth years or dates are stored or transmitted.
- No advertising or remarketing scripts are loaded.
- No email addresses, unless you choose to write to the address on the about page.
Sharing a result
If you use the share, copy-link or download buttons, the image is drawn on your device and the link contains only
the birth year you chose to share (for example /millennials/?y=1991). What you do with that link or
image is up to you.
